All multi-channel MAGIC telephone hybrids (MAGIC TH2plus, MAGIC TH6, MAGIC THipPro Lite, MAGIC THipPro, and MAGIC Server) can now be expanded with the WhatsApp functionality. This allows WhatsApp audio calls as well as voice and text messages, including images – all directly in the familiar user interface.

A Collaboration Services license and the desired number of WhatsApp Audio Channels are required. A WhatsApp Audio Channel is assigned as an additional service to a standard telephone line, which can then handle both regular phone calls and WhatsApp calls, or be configured exclusively for WhatsApp calls.

A very important aspect when setting up a DAB+ network is to make sure you select a manufacturer that uses the professional DAB+ Encoder from Fraunhofer Gesellschaft IIS to avoid issues with the audio quality and also legal problems. The open-source FDK-AAC encoder (also published by Fraunhofer) is not comparable in quality to the professional DAB+ encoder from Fraunhofer.

The new MAGIC Server is a scalable, software-based telephone hybrid and audio codec that combines the high reliability of hardware systems with the flexibility of a software solution.

The MAGIC telephone hybrids now enable connection via WebRTC and the Microsoft Teams collaboration software. This makes a call via a web link or Microsoft Teams just as easy as a classic phone call. The video signal is displayed in the software and can be output via NDI.
