Product Details

MAGIC DABMUX Go RM is a DSP-based ensemble multiplexer for simple DAB multiplexes.

Up to 20 programme providers can be connected via external audio encoders. Installing the encoders directly in the studio effectively avoids audio quality degradation due to codec cascading.

Special emphasis has been placed on easy configuration of the Ensemble Multiplexer via web browser, so that even users without DAB expert knowledge can set up the system.

The highly compact DAB Ensemble multiplexers allow very simple multiplexing according to the ETSI EN 300 401 standard. The system natively integrates features such as reconfigurations (manual as well as scheduled), extraction of subchannels from other multiplexers, insertion of PAD and NPAD data services, generation of service information, etc.

The input signal is expected to be either the AVTMUX protocol or EDI(ETI) from external multiplexers. As output signal, both multiplexer variants provide an EDI signal for distribution to the transmitter sites. Alternatively, a power amplifier can be connected directly. This option is particularly interesting if there is only one transmitter location.

Synchronisation is done via NTP.

Configuration, operation and monitoring are carried out via an HTML5-capable web browser.

External alarming can of course also be done via SNMP.

In terms of networking, the system has a Gbit Ethernet interface that allows up to three IP addresses and VLANs to be set up.

Options

MAGIC DABMUX plus Upgrade

The system can be extended with the features of the MAGIC DABMUX plus multiplexer via software upgrade:

  • Output: 4 x EDI (ETI) Simulcast
  • Automatic Encoders and Multiplexer Redundancy
  • 4 x integrated NPAD inserter
  • 4 x EDI input incl. automatic service extraction
  • Support of Service Linking, Dynamic Linkage Set Activation
  • Integrated PAD inserter: SLS,DL(+)
  • Connection of 25 encoders (with redundancy)

Service Monitor Upgrade

The Service Monitor upgrade allows the monitoring of any programme of the ensemble directly in the user interface.

PAD decoding and service information are supported by the Service Monitor.

Emergency Warning Break-In Upgrade

The EWB upgrade, besides setting the correct announcement flag, enables the simultaneous replacement of all audio content by an emergency announcement. This ensures that the announcement is audible even with older receivers. One additional MAGIC AE1 DAB+ Go or MAGIC AE4 Audio Encoder is required as emergency audio source.

ASA Automatic Safety Alert Upgrade

The ASA feature has been recently introduced into the DAB standard and allows to trigger an emergency warning within one or several DAB/DAB+ Ensembles for a dedicated region using so-called location codes. In this way, it is possible to inform listeners about e.g. a fire, a flooding or other potential life-threatening events within their region.

The ASA feature includes a wake-up functionality so that ASA compatible DAB/DAB+ Receivers can even be reached and switched on when in sleep mode.  As not all alert messages may be deemed of sufficient severity to wake-up receivers, the alerts are classified into two severity levels: Level 1 alerts are evaluated by all receivers, whereas Level 2 alerts are only evaluated by receivers that are awake.

Dynamic labels can be used alongside the audio if a visual message is required as well.

Cable Upgrade

An additional operating mode for cable networks is offered with the Cable Upgrade. The EDI input signal is analysed. The EDI output signal can be reformatted, the protection level and the service label can be changed.

Redundant Power Supply

An optional redundant 230V power supply is available for the system.

Switch Redundancy Upgrade

The upgrade extends a redundant multiplexer system with seamless EDI redundancy switching for 2-way distribution of the EDI signal.

The function requires the MAGIC DABMUX plus Software Upgrade.

Redundancy+ Upgrade

The upgrade enables a 1-way EDI distribution. The two redundant multiplexer systems monitor each other so that only one of the two systems sends the EDI signal at a time. Both the source and destination IP address can be configured identically for both multiplexers.

The function requires the MAGIC DABMUX plus Software Upgrade as well as the Switch Redundancy Upgrade.

DAB System Manager Upgrade

The DAB System Manager upgrade allows the management and monitoring of all AVT DAB Headend System components via an HTML5-compatible browser. Currently, the systems MAGIC DABMUX Go and MAGIC DABMUX plus are supported. The integration of the MAGIC AE1 DAB+ Go, the MAGIC AE4 DAB/DAB+ Encoder as well as the MAGIC EEC/SDC family will take place in a later release.

Key features are:

  • Common system monitoring
  • Redundancy view with manual main/backup path switching
  • Common log file of all system components using an SQL database
  • Email alert
  • Unlimited number of users with assignable rights
  • Central firmware update of all components
