ISDN Backup Function
ISDN Backup for Audio transmissions via IP, X.21 or 2-Mbit/s networks
For the MAGIC DC7 XIP/XIP RM and MAGIC AC1 XIP/XIP RM Audio Codecs as well as for the MAGIC IP Audio System and the MAGIC E1 Audio System an automatic ISDN Backup Function is now optionally available.
If the main connection between two MAGIC Codecs drops out during an Audio transmission, the systems switch automatically to the ISDN interface and the codec which has been selected as „Master“ establishes an ISDN Backup connection with the parameters that have been configured in the software. The Backup Function provides many configuration settings with which the backup solution can be adapted to your requirements. You can select for example the time in milliseconds for which the main connection must drop out before the backup is activated. In this way, you can avoid that a backup is established because of very short disturbances. The maximum backup time as well as the time frame during which no errors may occur before the systems switch back to the main connection are configurable.
To make sure that the ISDN Backup connection is working properly, a scheduled or manually triggered backup test can be carried out via the software without interrupting the main connection.
Application example

ISDN Backup via external alram signal
If an existing primary path contribution (e.g. via satellite) is to be protected with an automatic ISDN Backup, MAGIC AC1 and MAGIC AC1 XIP can trigger the ISDN Backup via an external TTL alarm signal. As long as the alarm signal is pending, the backup path remains active. Via the configuration parameters all backup conditions can be adjusted to your requirements. For example, the maximum backup time and the time period during which the alarm signal is to be pending before the backup is triggered can be selected. Via the TTL or relay output an external Audio switch can be controlled.
